Hangzhou Famous Steel Engineering Co., Ltd. recently hosted a specialized delegation from its PAT/PSI team for a rigorous on-site visit. The core objective was the technical inspection of advanced arc box bridge components, with a strict focus on meeting the AS/NZS 5100 standards .

As a critical reference for the Australian and New Zealand markets, the AS/NZS 5100 series governs bridge design, specifically Part 6 for steel and composite construction . This standard sets a high bar for structural integrity, load capacity, and fabrication quality. Our visiting team conducted meticulous checks on the steel box girders, assessing everything from weld integrity and dimensional accuracy to material composition .

Given the complex geometry of arc box bridges—often used for curved spans requiring high torsional stiffness—the inspection covered both external surfaces and internal compartments to ensure defect-free fabrication . The PAT/PSI engineers utilized advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques to verify that every component not only meets the structural requirements but also adheres to the stringent safety-in-design and climate resilience clauses of the latest 2026 amendments to the standard .
